28th Annual Cedar Lake Gala to be held November 5th
Cedar Lake, the region’s largest non-profit care provider for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, will host its 28th Annual Gala, presented by Commonwealth Bank & Trust, at the Marriott Louisville East on Saturday, November 5th from 6:00pm-10:00pm. The black-tie affair is themed “It’s A Wonderful Life” and will include a dual-entree dinner, as well as silent and live auctions. Entertainment will be provided by Chris K., and Ben H., both part of the Cedar Lake family. Professional dancers from Soiree will also be on site to perform the “Charleston,” and other popular dances from the era. Tickets are $175 per person and can be purchased at www.cedarlake.org or by calling 502-495-4943.
The evening will be auctioneered by Sherry Truhlar, America’s foremost female benefit auctioneer who will start off the evening by leading the attendees in a “Heads or Tails” game, where the last person standing will win $300 in gift cards to local eateries and shops.
Another feature of this year’s Gala is “the bourbon pull,” where individuals try for a chance to win a bottle of Old Rip Van Winkle’s 10-year family reserve.
The Gala’s silent auction comprises 100 items and includes such premium items as a 1916 Edison Disc Phonograph and a Grandfather Clock from England (both from the collection of Dr. Harold Kleinert) and a Speyside Bourbon Barrel. Online bidding for the items will be available beginning October 31st. To view the items or place a bid, visit cedarlake.gesture.com
All proceeds from the Gala will support the organization’s Indigent Care Endowment, which ensures that all those supported by Cedar Lake have a life of abundant possibilities despite their lack of sufficient income and who have no family to support those needs.
