Living a life beyond boundaries at Cedar Lake. Sometimes, in the course of our lives, we encounter individuals whose presence leaves an indelible mark. Jennie is one of those remarkable souls. Having called Cedar Lake home for the past 23 years, she has woven a tapestry of warmth, laughter, and kindness that envelops all who know her.
Residing in her own apartment within Cedar Lake’s residential community, Jennie receives invaluable support from her dedicated DSP, Tara Thurman, for eight hours each week. Together, they tackle the essentials of homemaking, ensuring Jennie’s comfort and well-being are prioritized.
Yet, Jennie’s zest for life extends far beyond the walls of her apartment. At Cedar Lake Enrichment Center in LaGrange, she immerses herself in a vibrant tapestry of activities, from bowling outings to volunteering at Feed Louisville. Here, amidst laughter and camaraderie, Jennie finds joy in every moment.
Her love for church and cherished family dinners speaks volumes about her deeply rooted values and connections. A Louisville native, Jennie’s reminiscences of carefree days spent playing outside echo through her spirited walks to the park with Tara, a tradition that fuels her ongoing passion for activity and engagement.
Jennie’s journey is one marked by resilience and achievement. Twenty-three years of dedicated service at Wal-Mart underscore her unwavering work ethic and commitment to excellence. And in 2021, her academic triumph at Jefferson Community & Technical College stands as a testament to her relentless pursuit of growth and self-improvement.
In the words of Tara Thurman, Jennie’s DSP and confidante, “Jennie is everyone’s inspiration.” Her compassionate spirit, unwavering determination, and steadfast integrity serve as guiding beacons for all who have the privilege of knowing her. In Jennie, we find not just a beacon of hope, but a shining example of resilience and grace, illuminating the path for others to follow. Here is to Jennie living beyond boundaries!
