Cedar Lake Lodge is dedicated to providing individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with essential communication tools through our comprehensive speech therapy program, with assistance from our expert speech therapist, Carla Larkin. This program is committed to enhancing the quality of life for our residents by equipping them with the means to effectively communicate their wants and needs.

At Cedar Lake, we understand that communication is a fundamental human right and an essential part of everyday life. Our speech therapy program tailors its approach to meet individual’s unique abilities, employing various techniques ranging from high-tech to low-tech solutions.

Carla Larkin, with her extensive experience and compassionate approach, works closely with individuals to identify the most effective communication system based on their needs.  Solutions range from low to high tech and range from simple systems such as single-message communication buttons up to and including speech-generating devices controlled with eye gaze.  These methods provide practical, accessible ways for individuals to express themselves, ensuring that every person has the means to communicate effectively.

Cedar Lake Lodge’s speech therapy program is just one aspect of our comprehensive approach to supporting individuals with disabilities. We are committed to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
