Board Member Spotlight

Jerry Roby
Vice Chairman
Cedar Lake Foundation, Inc.

Tell me how you first became involved with Cedar Lake.
I was invited to consider the board by our chairman, Bruce Beickman. Bruce and I had been friends for 20 years and he believed I could bring some value due to my insurance and finance background.

How long have you served on the Board of Directors?
I have been on the board for a little over two years. It was interesting joining during Covid, a lot of zoom calls and no visits to the campuses yet. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone in person soon.

Tell me a little bit about yourself: family, job, hobbies, etc.
I’m blessed to have a fantastic, beautiful and fun wife, Kimberly. We have 4 children, Tyler, Tori, Nathan and Courtney. We also have 6 grandchildren, Annelise, Carrigan, Max(well), Churchill, Carson and Emerson(Emmie). Unfortunately, 5 of our 6 grandkids live out of town so we travel as much as possible to see our crew. Any spare time I have will always be spent with my kids and grandkids.
I have been in the insurance industry for over 35 years and am the owner of Creditors Insurance Service, LLC. I am also the owner of two consulting companies that specialize in the pharmaceutical, construction and technology sectors. I love to play golf with my friends and family, but I’m terrible! I’m very competitive by nature, so I’m always trying to get better.

What is your favorite memory of your time with Cedar Lake?
My favorite memory so far was my first golf outing in 2021. I served on the golf committee, so I got to see the hard work that goes into the event. I was also able to interact with some of the sponsors and see their commitment to the Cedar Lake cause. I invited Coach Jeff Walz (UofL Women’s Basketball Head Coach) to participate that year and do the golf ball drop. He was a big hit, and I especially enjoyed seeing his interaction with several of our residents.

What’s your favorite annual event?
Tough one, as I’ve really enjoyed both the golf outing and the Gala and seemed to be one of the last people to leave both events! LOL

Anything else you’d like to share?
I just want everyone to know the amazing people associated with Cedar Lake. Starting with the executive team and running through the outstanding staff at all levels, the care they show our residents is unmatched. They are truly doing something special and providing happiness and life changing care. Personally, working with Marge, Kathey, Rachel, Kelsey and my fellow board members on several projects has made my time with Cedar Lake very rewarding.
