March 2022 Updates

My heart has been nourished these last few days by the warmth of spring and sight of daffodils and hyacinths rising up out of the cold ground, their faces pointed toward the sun. My soul has been nourished by time spent at the Lodge and Park Place with some of the dear people for whom we are so privileged to care. Their hugs, their smiles, their joy in being with friends and seeing visitors is contagious. How we’ve missed this! I can’t help but think of all our families who have put the health and safety of their loved ones first and have sacrificed precious time with them so they, and all those we care for, could be as protected from Covid-19 as possible.

Some of the best news I have to share is that we are able to welcome visitors back to our programs! Cedar Lake Foundation is hosting quarterly tours this year. We start the day at 8:30 at Williamsburg Plaza with breakfast and an overview of our programs, then we all get into one of our buses and head to the Lodge for a tour. After the Lodge, we go to Cedar Lake Enrichment Center where guests not only can experience our work there but get an overview of all Cedar Lake Residences and community based services as well. Then it’s back to Louisville by noon. Our next tour is scheduled for Friday, May 20. If you would like to join please contact Kelsey Hamilton at 502.495.4931 or khamilton@cedarlake.org. So if it’s been too long since you’ve had a chance to visit Cedar Lake or if you’ve never had the opportunity, join me on May 20 and be prepared to have your hearts and souls lifted!
