Cedar Lake Celebrates New Accessible Lake Path and Deck

Cedar Lake Lodge Path Ribbon Cutting Individuals Behind Ribbon Ready to Cut

On September 16, Cedar Lake proudly celebrated the ribbon-cutting of its new accessible path and lake deck overlook. This project presented an exciting opportunity for Cedar Lake to utilize the body of water on site, which is named after the organization.

We would like to thank the Oldham County Chamber of Commerce for joining us at the ribbon-cutting and supporting this milestone. We are also grateful to the many businesses, families, and community members who attended the event to celebrate alongside us.

A special thank you goes to our corporate partners, East & Westbrook Construction and Advance Ready Mix, whose generosity and expertise made the accessible path a reality. Through their in-kind gift valued at $34,000, individuals at Cedar Lake and their support team can safely and easily reach the water, whether by wheelchair, walker, or on foot.

The new pathway leads to a beautiful lake deck overlook, designed to be a place of rest, reflection, and community. This space will be enjoyed through Cedar Lake programming, music therapy sessions, club time, and a place for families to visit with their loved ones.

We also extend heartfelt gratitude to the Cedar Lake Lodge and Park Place maintenance team, who built the lake deck itself. With benches, a shaded area, and a thoughtful design, they created a welcoming space that will be treasured for years to come. Their hard work and craftsmanship truly shine.

Finally, we would like to recognize the Keller family, whose generous donation provided funds to help purchase supplies for the deck. Their contribution helped make this vision a reality.

Together, this project represents what is possible when community, families, and partners come together with a shared mission: creating opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live and engage fully in life.
