Turn your charitable savings into abundant possibilities
If you have a donor-advised fund (DAF), you already have a flexible way to give. Cedar Lake gratefully accepts grants from DAFs, and your recommendation can help us offer compassionate, capable care to the more than 250 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities we support.
What is a donor-advised fund?
Think of a DAF as a personal charitable savings account. An individual, family, or corporation contributes to a fund managed by a sponsoring public charity and receives an immediate tax deduction. The money grows tax-free, and you recommend grants to your favorite nonprofits over time.
The sponsoring organization is the legal donor of each grant, but you hold advisory privileges over where your grants go. You can typically indicate whether a gift is unrestricted or designated for a specific cause or program.
DAFs are used by many Americans because they are accessible and flexible. Individuals, families, and groups can all create or contribute to an account.
Ways to support Cedar Lake through your DAF
Recommend a grant now. You have contributed to your DAF, and it has grown tax-free. Now it is time to put those assets to work. Grant recommendations to qualified U.S. public charities like Cedar Lake can be made immediately, over time, or as part of a succession plan.
Set up recurring grants. Recurring gifts are convenient for you and a key tool for nonprofits seeking financial sustainability. A steady stream of support helps Cedar Lake plan ahead and provide consistent, high-quality care.
Name Cedar Lake as a beneficiary. You can also designate Cedar Lake as a beneficiary of your fund. Assets in the fund will then come to us once the account owner passes away, a meaningful way to ensure the people we support are loved unconditionally well into the future.
